At Markham Orthodontics, we love making our patients laugh while we create their healthy new smile!
Everyone at our practice, from Dr. David Markham and Dr. Steven Scott, through our team members, is passionate about orthodontics. We know the difference having straight teeth makes in a person’s life, and we love helping make that happen.
Ours is a practice where we focus on each person’s clinical needs, along with their timeline and smile goals. Our doctors have extensive experience, and work one-to-one with our patients and families. Every day, we help people improve their bite and self-confidence. Even better, orthodontic changes mean improved oral health and a great smile, for life!
ON BEING AN ORTHODONTIST
I am in the business of growing people: my patients, my team, and myself. I just happen to straighten crooked teeth and make beautiful smiles along the way! Working with my patients and my team every day inspires me to improve myself, to be happier and healthier with each new day, and to age gracefully. I hope to inspire the same in others.
I love working with patients of all ages and backgrounds. Each patient brings a unique set of personality traits, and I enjoy learning who they are as individuals. The conversations we have, and the laughter we share, make my days a joy.

An orthodontist is never done with learning. Continuing education keeps me immersed in the ever-changing field of orthodontics. This ensures my patients are receiving the best care that clinical experience, current trends and research, and modern technology have to offer. Throughout the year I participate in lectures, workshops, clinical exercises, and giving presentations and lectures to my colleagues.

I grew up in Brigham City, Utah, at the feet of the majestic Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountain’s western slope. I spent my summers working in the fields of my father’s wheat farm in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho, and spent my winters skiing the “champagne powder” of many local ski resorts. For the past 10 years I’ve lived on the outskirts of Auburn, on a small mandarin farm. You can take the boy off the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the boy!
Dr. Luminita Markham is my wife, my family, and my hero. She is also a dentist, so we share the same interests and passions. We enjoy spending time together at home, at work, in continuing education, recreating, and traveling the world.
When I’m not working or studying, I tend to spend my time outdoors, being active. I enjoy working in the yard, swimming, and working out at the gym. My wife and I enjoy hiking, mountain biking, along with rock and mountain climbing. We’ve summitted Mt. Whitney, Mt. Shasta, Mt. Rainer, and Mt. Kilimanjaro. My future goals include summiting Mt. McKinley, trekking in the Himalayas, and visiting Angkor Wat.
When you call or enter the offices of Markham Orthodontics, you will more than likely be greeted by me first. Whether you are calling to book an appointment or attending a periodic adjustment, I am passionate about making sure you are warmly welcomed and made to feel comfortable.
I joined Markham Orthodontics in August 2017 and am grateful to be a part of such a cheerful, hardworking and determined team that Dr. Markham has so wonderfully created. Of my favorite parts of the job, making patients smile and laugh is number one. I am super excited to continuously grow with my team as well as with our patients.
When I’m not working, I like to make my friends and family members laugh, dance, play video games, read and watch funny shows like The Office. I also love kids and although I’m not surrounded by any at home, I am happy that my job fulfills that at work!
I love seeing our patients smile. Watching each person’s excitement to start their orthodontic journey and then witnessing that excitement grow as they near completion, is incredible. Of course, the wonderful smiles at the end are best of all.
I help patients with scheduling appointments, handling insurance and billing matters and developing financial contracts with our patients and parents.
When I’m not in the office, I enjoy running, reading and spending time with family and friends. I’m a major fan of the 49ers and Sacramento Kings and I am also a big time foodie.
